Renowned British operator William Hill continues to extend its footprint in the United States where it has become quite entrenched in the gaming industry. The most recent move in this regard was through a deal that will see it take over the race and sports book operations for Nevada-based Golden Entertainment. A recent report by CDC Gaming Reports reveals that William Hill is now in charge of the sportsbooks at three of Golden Entertainment’s venues namely Aquarius Casino Resort in Laughlin, Arizona Charlie’s Boulder in Las Vegas and Arizona Charlie’s Decatur. The deal further expected to cover a new sportsbook which is currently still under construction at the STRAT and is set to officially launch next month.

Before the recently extended partnership, William Hill has already inked a partnership agreement with Golden Entertainment under which it managed the latter’s sportsbook at the Pahrump Nugget, as well as offering full-service kiosks at the Gold Town and the Lakeside casinos. Furthermore, the global sportsbook operator has been installing gaming kiosks at about 80 taverns owned by Golden Entertainment as well as third-party distributed gaming locations across Nevada. Colorado Belle in Laughlin and Edgewater, some of the properties that were recently acquired by Golden Entertainment will also continue their sportsbook operations run by William Hill.

Joe Asher, the chief executive officer of William Hill US, in a recent statement, stated that the addition of four new casino resorts marks the start of “an exciting new chapter in our relationship with Golden Entertainment” and therefore their customers can look forward to new and refreshing experiences both in Nevada and elsewhere for years to come.

Future Plans

As it stands, William Hill is arguably the largest sportsbook operator in the United States and the acquisition of new properties will significantly further its growth. In the near future, both companies intend to venture into the relatively new sports betting markets in Montana and Maryland, but this will depend entirely on whether the lawmakers in these states approved the legalization of sports betting. Fortunately, should the sports betting bills be passed in the states, setting up sports betting operations should be relatively easy since Golden Entertainment already has quite the presence in both of them – it already runs a distributed gaming service in Montana where it also caters to close to 300 locations and it owns the Maryland-based Rocky Gap Casino Resort.

Moreover, William Hill is slowly extending its footprint throughout the country with partnerships with the yet-to-be-launched Eldorado Resorts in Iowa and the Prairie Meadows Racetrack & Casino. This, however, does not mean that the sportsbook operator will shift focus from its operations in Europe despite the increasingly strict regulations in those territories.
