On Wednesday, Scientific Games announced that it has received an extension of its partnership deal with the Pennsylvania Lottery. After a very competitive procurement process, the gaming solutions provider has signed a new 7-year contract for online and mobile and iLottery games with the state-run lottery. As per the terms of the partnership agreement, Scientific Games will have the option to renew the contract three times for one-year periods after the contract expires.

What the Partnership Deal Entails

Just as it has been, the new contract gives Scientific Games control over the implementation, operation, maintenance as well as support of all of the lottery’s solutions and services. This will extend to both the iLottery’s web applications and other forms of its online presence.

In addition to those, the gaming solutions provider will also be in charge of various responsible gambling controls, customer relationship management, enhancement of player engagement and the affiliate program which is designed to benefit the lottery’s retailers. The affiliate program is quite huge since it involves over 9,8000 retailers. All of them are incentivized for each and every player that registers on the state’s iLottery program.

“Beyond the tremendous growth of instant and draw games, our iLottery partnership has generated significant incremental revenue. Scientific Games will continue to invest in innovation that keeps the Lottery relevant to consumers, and ultimately maximizes its returns to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania,” Pat McHugh, the chief executive of lottery for Scientific Games said.

Scientific Games officially launched the Pennsylvania Lottery’s iLottery program in May 2018. This turned out to be one of the best moves for the business. In the program’s first year of operation, total digital sales reached a whopping $342 million. As it stands, the figure has risen to a little over $642 million thanks to several highly praised titles. These include Volcano Eruption, Monster Wins, and Foxin’ Wins.

Modernizing the Lottery

According to Drew Svitko, the executive director of the Pennsylvania Lottery, the iLottery program is a critical part of their efforts to modernize the lottery. The goal is to not only appeal to the new tech-savvy customers and continue generating revenue. As always, they will channel most of the funds towards assisting the older residents of the state.

To keep everything on the same momentum, the Pennsylvania Lottery has promised to keep investing in innovations especially those that will keep it relevant to the customers. Already, it is one of the most successful state-run lotteries in the United States. The improvement will, therefore, serve to elevate its already stellar status.
