US online casino players are getting another slot brand to add to the increasingly crowded iGaming mix, with Evolution launching Spinning Whale as a studio built specifically with North American tastes in mind.
The new brand is designed to give Evolution another way to approach the US market, rather than simply extending its existing portfolio. Spinning Whale will focus on themes, mechanics, volatility and visual styles that Evolution believes can better match the preferences of North American players, while still leaving room for its games to travel internationally.
As more states develop regulated iGaming markets, operators need fresh content that can give players a reason to try something beyond the familiar library of established titles. This is one way of capitalizing on that shift.
A New Name for an Already Robust Slots Market
Spinning Whale joins a substantial Evolution portfolio that already includes Nolimit City, NetEnt, Red Tiger, Big Time Gaming and Sneaky Slots.
Its first release is 888 Dragon’s Fortune Hold’n’Win, an Asian-themed game that draws inspiration from traditional land-based slot machines while adapting the format for online play in the US.
The game is being used as the brand’s starting point, with Spinning Whale expected to expand across Evolution’s North American network in November. More titles are planned for 2027. According to the suppliers, their idea is not to abandon its existing studios but to create another identity within the group that can experiment with content aimed at specific player preferences.
That could become increasingly important in the US, where online casino markets are still relatively concentrated in a handful of states but competition between operators is intensifying.
More Choice, But More Competition for Attention
Another studio does not automatically mean another reason to play from many players’ perspectives. The US casino market is already packed with slots competing for visibility inside operator lobbies.
Differentiation is where the focus for Evolution and its competitors seems to be shifting. Jacob Claesson, CEO of Evolution North America, confirmed that they have identified differences in how US players respond to differentiated products. Spinning Whale is intended to give those preferences a greater influence over game development from the beginning.
The games will also be distributed exclusively through Evolution’s One Stop Shop, allowing operators to integrate the new brand alongside the company’s broader online casino portfolio through a single integration.
That gives Spinning Whale a potentially straightforward route into multiple operator lobbies, while Evolution gets another vehicle for testing what resonates with American players. Conveniently, multiple studios allow Evolution to develop different styles rather than attempting to create one formula for every player.
