iovation Readies for iGaming Fraud and Legal Complications

Now that the American football season has officially begun and more states are legalizing and regulating online gambling, some rather critical concerns are beginning to crop up. iovation, a TransUnion company has recently announced that it is anticipating a number of serious challenges in the country’s online gambling market and as a result, it has plans to launch a new solutions package.

The new package of solutions is a product suite that focusses around the onboarding of new players as well as on providing necessary assistance to online gambling operators in the country as they strive to comply with new regulations, combatting fraud, and even improving the overall gambling experience on their platforms.

“The online gambling gold rush today in the U.S. is akin to what we saw nearly two decades ago when iovation first began working with European operators as countries there began to legalize online gambling. With states legalizing online gambling and the American fantasy football season kicking off, operators are sprinting to launch apps and websites. They are putting most of their efforts into getting users with less emphasis on preventing gambling issues,” said iovation Co-Founder Greg Pierson.

iovation prognostication is based on the experience in the European market where it has been supporting over 100 gaming operators and platform providers for the past 15 years. Some of the companies the company has been supporting include top gaming operators and even some of the world’s largest gambling infrastructure providers.

The Points of Concern

As mentioned earlier, iovation’s goal is to mitigate or at least help in solving the problems that will arise due to the rise of online gambling in the United States. The specific issues that iovation anticipates will be problematic will include:

Age verification. – Obviously, there will be underage people (below 21) trying to participate in gambling.

Credit card fraud. – Recently, there has been an increase in credit card fraud especially with regards to online gambling.

Bonus abuse. – Even operators are at risk of getting defrauded as many malicious individuals are becoming crafty in exploiting their bonus and promotion programs.

Self-exclusion. – This is, of course, going to be a hot topic as responsible gambling campaigns begin to take shape in the rapidly growing gambling campaign. iovation plans to help the gaming companies to enforce responsible gambling measures and self-exclusion controls are going to be a huge part of this.

Managing play boundaries. – Geolocation and geofencing technology will be a huge part of the gaming industry and iovation will be there to help with that as well.
