The initiative is being coordinated through the Casino Association of New Jersey (CANJ), which represents the city’s casino properties and works closely with regulators and community partners across the state.
While March brings added visibility, industry leaders stress that responsible gaming policies remain active throughout the year. It only provides a platform to highlight these commitments, but Atlantic City casinos maintain that responsible gaming remains part of everyday operations across the sector.
Eyes on Oversight and Safeguards
All Atlantic City casinos operate under the supervision of the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, which oversees compliance standards for both land-based and online gambling in the state. Within that framework, casinos maintain internal programs designed to identify and assist guests who may show signs of gambling-related harm.
Employees receive training to recognize behavioral warning signs and provide information about available support services. On-property materials and digital messaging direct patrons to confidential help resources, including the 1-800-GAMBLER hotline. Monitoring systems and player protection tools remain in place year-round to promote safer play. Marketing and advertising practices are also striving to align with state guidelines, ensuring promotions are transparent and do not target vulnerable groups.

Casino gaming taxes and industry-related fees contribute roughly $4 million annually to organizations focused on prevention, treatment and recovery. Among the primary beneficiaries is the Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey, which provides education, counseling referrals and direct support services.
These contributions help sustain statewide programs aimed at assisting individuals and families affected by problem gambling. Industry representatives note that continued funding is a key part of maintaining a balanced, regulated gaming environment.
