American Gaming Association research found sweepstakes casino advertising accounted for roughly half of the online real-money casino advertising seen by US consumers in early 2025. Around 90% of sweepstakes users surveyed considered the activity gambling, while 68% said winning real money was their primary reason for playing. Some legislative proposals also target payment processors, gaming suppliers, platform providers, geolocation companies and affiliates supporting sweepstakes platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"where-could-the-model-face-more-pressure\">Where Could the Model Face More Pressure?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bestonlinecasinosites.com\/news\/nearly-40-online-sweepstakes-casinos-ordered-to-cease-operations-in-tennessee\/\">state-by-state<\/a> nature of US gambling regulation means sweepstakes casinos are unlikely to face one uniform national policy in the near term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Connecticut offers an indication of where enforcement could go. The state reached a nearly $1.5 million settlement with High5Games over an online casino-style platform, including restitution linked to customers and self-excluded users. Suppliers are also beginning to reassess their exposure. Pragmatic Play opted to stop supplying games to US sweepstakes platforms, demonstrating how regulatory uncertainty can affect the wider ecosystem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>States without regulated online casinos could become particularly important. Sweepstakes platforms have been able to capture casino demand in markets where consumers cannot legally access traditional iGaming, creating an alternative to regulated operators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"a-potentially-more-divided-market\">A Potentially More Divided Market<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Ultimately, this changing regulatory environment has the potential to make the US online casino market more fragmented. A sweepstakes casino may provide casino-style games and cash-value prizes without operating under the same framework as a licensed online casino.
