The online gambling market is expanding around the world, with plenty of progress being made in European countries. With a view to being one of the most widely accessible games providers, NetEnt has been working hard to expand into newly regulated international market. This week, the casino games developer has become even closer to achieving its goal by signing agreements in Finland and Sweden.
Partnership with Svenska Spel in Sweden
Today, NetEnt has signed a contract with Svenska Spel Sport & Casino AB, Sweden’s state-owned gambling operator. The deal will allow the casino games developer to offer its games at Swedish online casino websites when the country’s market opens in January 2019.
This follows shortly after the Swedish parliament decided to re-regulate online gambling in June. The country’s lawmakers will now allow local players to access online casinos that have been licensed by state authorities.
There are six different types of licenses available for operators, and the cost for each one will vary from 400 000 to 700 000 SEK. The new law dictates that companies will have to pay an 18% tax on all commercial gambling while non-profit gambling activities will pay no tax. Additionally, there will be an age limit of 18-years-old for players to access online casino games and 21-years-old to enter a physical casino.
Deal with Veikkaus in Finland
Earlier this week, NetEnt signed a similar deal with Veikkaus, the state-owned gaming operator in Finland. The two companies have agreed that NetEnt will be permitted to provide its casino games to players at the online casino.
Veikkaus is the only licensed gambling operator in Finland with over 700 000 customers visiting its online casino every week. Last year, the company turned over 3.2 million EUR, so this is sure to be a profitable venture for all parties involved.
The new NetEnt games at Veikkaus are expected to launch sometime in the first half of 2019. The partnership between the two companies will last for 4 years, and it is expected that NetEnt will generate between 5 and 9 million EUR in revenue. Veikkaus is also likely to attract more players with the addition of NetEnt titles, which will definitely make this a worthwhile partnership.
NetEnt casino games are known to be some of the best in the online gaming market. The company offers hundreds of titles spanning slots, card games and live dealer games, which are already hugely popular around the world. Now, players in Sweden and Finland will be able to see what all the buzz is about and get their chance to experience the fantastic range of games from NetEnt.
